This is the closest place for provisions, including two small supermarkets, bakers, butchers, tabac, bistro, bank and pizza restaurant. There is a small childrens play area and tea room.
Le Dorat is a historical town, featuring a large supermarket, cafes, restaurants, bank, bakers, tabac, petrol station and also has a traditional English fish and chip van which parks in the square every Friday between 6pm-8pm.
Bellac is a larger town with a number of supermarkets, restaurants, shops and petrol stations. There is a 13th century stone arched bridge which leads across the River Vincou and is a great place to take a picnic and eat by the riverside and enjoy feeding the ducks.
Montmorillon, is known as the Village of the Written Word and is a great place for book lovers as there are many book shops. Visit Cite de l'Ecrit for a selection of cafes, creperies and small artisan shops. There is a local market on a Wednesday and a fair every 4th Wednesday of the month. The rich architectural heritage will add to your visit and don't forget to stop at the almond and macaron museum and treat yourself.
Lussac les Chateaux
This is a great place to go for restaurants, patisseries and local shops to explore. There is the Museum of Prehistory with its exhibition of Palaeolithic Age artefacts and other archaeological artworks discovered in caves. It is a short drive from Planete des Crocodiles and there is a Friday market.
Planete des Crocodiles
This is a wonderful place to go to see many live crocodiles, alligators and turtles. If you're lucky you will get to see the crocodiles being fed which is a great experience. There is a snack bar available and you would only need half a day to enjoy the whole centre.
Next door is a leisure complex which features ten-pin bowling, swimming and scuba diving.
Oradour sur Glane
This memorial site and museum is a place to visit if you are interested in history. It is a French village that was destroyed in WWII and today it is preserved in its original ruined state.
Parc Zoo Du Reynou

Wander over 100 hectares to see animals like tapirs, capybaras, lions, cheetahs, monkeys, giraffes and many more.
